Strength and Conditioning Program In North York
Improve Sport Performance With Our North York Strength and Conditioning Program
At CPC, we use The Functional Range Systems Internal Strength model for the optimization of Strength and Conditioning. The model considers these 4 truths of human movement:
All movements are created internally
All movements are executed internally
Internal constraints (i.e. pain) are always the first to overcome
External displays of movement (lifting weights) are an expression of internal function
Since its inception, strength training has prioritized external goals (i.e. squatting 300lbs) as the main determinant of success. Displays of strength, speed, and agility have been emphasized often at the expense of the internal system (the athlete) performing said displays. The result has created a history of impressive performance feats, occurring on a backdrop of increasing rates of sports injuries.
At CPC, we re-focus sport strength and conditioning training inputs to cultivate specific performance adaptations based on the specific needs of the athlete/person. First, it is important to determine joint function and capacity with a thorough athletic assessment. With this understanding, we can then focus the strength and conditioning training to apply forces to the tissues to stimulate specific tissue adaptations. It is important that these adaptations can then be synthesized by the nervous system to solve specific problems or tasks requiring the generation and discharge of force, for example, during sport or an athletic event.
What does this mean and how is this output in sport performance?
After your strength and conditioning assessment at our North York clinic your joint and tissue requirements, based on your needs and goals for your sport or life, are identified. A program is then designed for your sport and performance needs relative to your individual goal.
The strength and conditioning program is unique and evolving. It is a progressive and periodized program that includes multiple phases with specific force inputs to the tissues that work towards your end performance goals. You will be shown the program, with the opportunity to record the exercises, to do them independently or with the support of one of our highly trained team members.

WHAT OUR CLIENT IS SAYING
Throughout my time with Dr. Chris, I have only had positive experiences. Last year I competed at the Canadian Wrestling Championship, where I unfortunately suffered a partially torn ACL and PCL. However, at the time, despite the immense pain, I was unaware of the injury and shrugged it off thinking it was a bruise. The following days after the tournament, I continued to feel the pain, so I visited Dr. Chris. In his assessment, he had a nagging suspicion that my ligaments were partially torn so he recommended an MRI. The result of the MRI confirmed his diagnosis. So, Dr. Chris put together a 3-month program to get my knee stronger than it previously was. After completing the program which was designed by Dr. Chris, I was asked by my orthopedic surgeon to do a biodex test (a test to find how strong the knee is). When I took that test after Dr. Chris’ program was completed, I was shocked to see that the strength of my quadriceps and hamstrings grew significantly. All in all, throughout my ACL recovery, Dr. Chris was excellent at diagnosing me and putting together a plan to help me not only recover, but win the Canadian Championship the very next year. I highly recommend his services to anyone in the athletic field.
